MARTI GUIXE

My Grandad bought me a pack of four 'Estrella' beers the other day because he liked the packaging design and thought i might like it too! It turned out i did very much bless him, so i found some more information about the designer Marti Guixe and the packaging at http://www.designboom.com/design/marti-guixe-designs-packaging-for-estrella-damm-beer/ an interesting read and great website. Ive been lucky enough to have been to Barcelona and its a fantastic place! Tastes quite nice too. Thanks Grandad.

Whilst we're here... The 2013 advert is pretty nice too http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jeS6mONYJ0U

WHAT A LOOKER... Blog photo re-touching!!

Above is an example of some photo retouching or editing i have done recently for  http://whatalookerbeauty.blogspot.co.uk/ She's super talented and has a fantastic blog so check it out!!! The nail art is my particular favourite! full of creativity!

Some real simple touching up but just to take off elements such as glare or flash from the camera and soften the whole picture. Other editing has involved sharpening imagery, general cropping etc.

'Space invader'/'Invader'

In the post below, there are some images of some of the art I encountered whilst on a short trip to the city of Amsterdam. Included within the works was a piece by an infamous street artist called 'invader' or 'Space Invader'. Below is three links with more information about the artists and his works.

Personalised chalk board.

saw this great idea at http://www.abeautifulmess.com/2012/02/how-to-mix-chalkboard-paint-in-any-color.html.... the recipe to mix up your own chalk board paint in any colour you want. Such an exciting idea and one i hope to try in the near future. Already thinking about developing this idea and using cork tiles as a base to create a chalk board/pin board versatile type surface. One to try in the near future.

The above link is a great blog for creative ideas.

Be Green!

I love the idea of a greener environment and here is just a couple of novel and creative ways to bring life and colour to unused areas. This is something i hope to develop and try myself.. Definitely a fan of this kind of thinking.

Alexandre Farto AKA Vhils

Alexandre Farto... AKA Vhils. Creates amazing stencil style portrait as well as often urban landscape pieces. Works in a variety of media and materials, wood, metal, walls, and some of my favourite.. old billboards. Often chips or drills at walls to reveal bare brickwork or plaster to contrast with untouched or newly painted wall. Layers, Texture, Organic, industrial, stencil, negative space, relationship, narrative, communication, rough, smooth, contrast. For more of his work see his website here

Man Ray Portraits (NPG)

An exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery that starts TODAY!! Exhibiting a collection of 150  Man Ray photographic portraits. Very exciting, must make sure i go and see this. More information  here.

My Kilner lamp

I created this cheap and effective lamp for next to nothing! i used an old kilner jar and some free ex-display christmas lights. It creates a nice feature up on my shelf or on my desk in the evenings. Fun to make and looks really cool! only limitations is the lights i've got are the old type bulbs, this means inside this tight space they get very hot!! to improve id use a pack of LED lights which give out a lot less heat as a bi product. Maybe one for the future.

Photo Taken from http://twistedsifter.com/2012/07/rainbow-colored-stairs-of-wuppertal-horst-glaesker/

Horst Glaesker: German based artist responsible for this public explosion of colour. 2006-2008 Painted 112 steps in Wuppertal, Germany each a different colour in acrylic paint. Each step also adorned with an individual word, some examples include family, innocence, aggressive, honesty, love.

Quite thought provoking literature matched with bold block colour. Love this public statement, to me this is the kind of street art that enhances and compliments todays urban metropolis and would love to see more 'street art' that communicates with its surroundings and creates a positive relationship between old/new, architecture/art or classical/contemporary.

Colour-emotion, steps, urban, bold, emotive, bright, street.

Jorge Selaron.

Also reminds me of the  Escadaria Selaron in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. Created by Chilean born artist Jorge Selaron who once described his work as "My tribute to Brazillian people." see below...
